Abstract

This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the Advance Organizer learning model and conventional learning in improving elementary school students’ mathematics learning outcomes. The study was conducted at SDN 38 Bonto Perak using a quasi-experimental design with a control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using the Advance Organizer model and a control class taught through conventional learning. Data were collected using a validated mathematics achievement test and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics, including an independent samples t-test. The findings showed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean post-test score than the control class. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups (t = 3.27, p = 0.002), indicating that students taught using the Advance Organizer model performed better in mathematics than those who received conventional instruction. These results demonstrated that the Advance Organizer model was more effective in enhancing students’ mathematics learning outcomes. In conclusion, the Advance Organizer learning model significantly improved elementary school students’ mathematics achievement compared to conventional learning. These findings contribute to teacher engagement by using structured and meaningful instructional models such as Advance Organizer to support students' conceptual understanding and improve the quality of mathematics learning in elementary schools.
